Before you go

• Coverage is good in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and along the coastal corridor between them. Ha Giang, Sapa and the northern mountains are genuinely patchy.
• Ha Long Bay drops out once you're properly among the islands, and the overnight cruise boats are outside reliable coverage for much of the route.
• Vietnam is long. The Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City run is a two-hour flight or well over a day by train, and coverage on the sleeper trains comes and goes.
• These are data-only plans. They don't come with a local phone number, and they don't carry calls or texts, so keep your normal SIM switched on for those and let the eSIM handle data.
• The plan starts when it first connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy it. Buy it weeks ahead if you like; the clock starts when you land.
• Install it before you fly, over your home Wi-Fi. Installing needs an internet connection, which is the one thing you won't have at the airport.
• Don't delete an eSIM to make room for another one. An activation code only works once, and your phone can hold several profiles side by side.

Partly. Ha Long town and Sapa town are covered; out among the karst islands and up in the mountain valleys you should expect to lose signal.

Are any websites blocked in Vietnam?

Most services work normally. Vietnam has restricted individual sites at times, so if something specific won't load it's more likely a national restriction than a problem with your eSIM.

How much data for two weeks in Vietnam?
