Before you go
- Singapore has some of the best mobile coverage anywhere. There are effectively no dead spots on the island, including the full length of the MRT underground.
- Changi Airport has excellent free Wi-Fi, so you can install or troubleshoot an eSIM on arrival if you didn't do it before flying. It's one of the few airports where that's a genuinely reliable fallback.
- The island is small enough that a short plan is often the right call. If Singapore is a stopover rather than the destination, look at a 3-day or 7-day plan instead of 30 days.
- These are data-only plans. They don't come with a local phone number, and they don't carry calls or texts, so keep your normal SIM switched on for those and let the eSIM handle data.
- The plan starts when it first connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy it. Buy it weeks ahead if you like; the clock starts when you land.
- Install it before you fly, over your home Wi-Fi. Installing needs an internet connection, which is the one thing you won't have at the airport.
- Don't delete an eSIM to make room for another one. An activation code only works once, and your phone can hold several profiles side by side.

Singapore eSIM questions
- Does the eSIM work on the MRT and in the tunnels?
- Yes. Singapore's underground rail network has full mobile coverage throughout, which is not true of most metro systems.
- Will a Singapore plan cover Johor Bahru or Batam?
- No. Those are Malaysia and Indonesia respectively, and a Singapore plan stops at the border. If you're crossing, an Asia regional plan usually costs less than two country plans.
- How much data for a three-day stopover?
- 1 GB is plenty for three days of maps and messaging, especially with Wi-Fi widely available.
