Before you go

• Coverage across mainland France is good, including most of the TGV network. The Alps and the Pyrenees have the expected valley dead spots.
• Corsica is covered by a France plan, but the mountain interior is sparse. The coastal road is fine, the GR20 is not.
• Paris Métro coverage has improved a great deal and most lines now work underground, though the older deep sections are still unreliable.
• These are data-only plans. They don't come with a local phone number, and they don't carry calls or texts, so keep your normal SIM switched on for those and let the eSIM handle data.
• The plan starts when it first connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy it. Buy it weeks ahead if you like; the clock starts when you land.
• Install it before you fly, over your home Wi-Fi. Installing needs an internet connection, which is the one thing you won't have at the airport.
• Don't delete an eSIM to make room for another one. An activation code only works once, and your phone can hold several profiles side by side.

Does a France plan cover Monaco or Corsica?

Corsica yes, as it's part of France. Monaco is a separate country with its own operator and needs a Europe regional plan.

Will it work on the Eurostar?

At both ends, yes. Through the Channel Tunnel itself you'll lose data entirely, which is normal for every network.

How much data for a week in Paris?

5 GB is generous for a city week. Wi-Fi is widespread in cafés and hotels, so many people finish a week well under that.
